Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has officially confirmed that a sequel is in development. The original game, released exclusively for PlayStation 5 in 2024, achieved major success, selling over one million units within two months. The title’s popularity helped propel Shift Up’s financial growth, including a successful IPO that raised approximately $320 million.
According to a recent company presentation, Shift Up is planning a sequel for release sometime before 2027, with a tentative window possibly as early as 2026. The studio also teased other upcoming projects, including a mysterious action game codenamed “Project Witches” and a “platform expansion” for Stellar Blade. While it’s unclear what the expansion entails, it could potentially hint at a future release on platforms beyond the PS5—though an Xbox release remains uncertain due to Sony’s involvement.
Meanwhile, Stellar Blade: Complete Edition is set to launch on June 11, featuring new outfits, a boss fight, and additional voiceover options in Japanese and Simplified Chinese. This update will be free for existing players. Given the game’s success and the rising profile of Shift Up’s founder Kim Hyung-tae, who now ranks among South Korea’s wealthiest individuals, anticipation is high for the sequel to match or surpass the original’s achievements.
